The WordCamp Association is a non-profit association, incorporated in New South Wales on the 4th July, 2008.

[edit] Purpose
The association was formed to facilitate the running of the annual WordCamp Australia conference.
Several benefits to forming an association were identified to pursue this aim.
- Creation of an ongoing membership, allowing dialogue beyond the conference event
- The ability to engage year-round association sponsors, as well as event sponsors
- Being able to issue invoices to members for purchases
- Being able to issue invoices to sponsors for sponsorship
- The ability to purchase insurance
- Transfer of responsibilities and risk to a non-individual legal entity
[edit] Membership
The association is to be primarily comprised of members of the Australian blogging community, be they content creators, technicians or in any other role that makes up the landscape of blogging. The primary focus of the groups technical discussions will be the WordPress personal publishing software. Membership is open to any member of the general public. A full fee schedule is available.
The association keeps a full list of members which is available for viewing by members on request to the secretary.

[edit] WordCamp Australia Annual Conference
The association's main activity is the WordCamp Australia annual conference.
This conference intends to bring together bloggers from all over Australia in one physical location for the purposes of sharing ideas, networking and socialising.
[edit] WordCamp Mini
WordCamp Mini conferences are intended to be smaller local meetings. The format can be of any type and may or may not include a structured program. They can even be purely social events.
These events would be initiated by members of the association as they see fit. See the WordCamp Mini page for more details.
[edit] Annual General Meetings
The association is required to hold an annual general meeting once a year. To maximise participation, the annual general meeting should be held to coincide with the WordCamp Australia annual conference.
Events which will take place at the meeting will include:
- Election of office bearers
- Appointment of WordCamp Australia organising sub-committee
- Financial reports
Any member present at an annual general meeting has voting rights. Agendas will be posted to this site prior to the meeting.
[edit] Committee Meetings
Members are welcome to attend and participate in committee meetings. Meeting agendas and minutes are available on this site.
[edit] Committee and Office Bearers
The committee is comprised of the office bearers of the association.
To facilitate the establishment of the association, two interim office bearer were appointed from the organising team for WordCamp Australia 2008.
- Secretary - Sam Bauers
- Treasurer - Anthony Cole
Office bearers will be voted for at each annual general meeting.

The association rules are based on the "Model Rules" for associations in NSW.
